Macallan 1947 Bot.1960s / マッカラン 1947 . The Macallan distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and teacher. The original name of the area was 'Maghellan', which came from the Gallic word 'magh', which means fertile soil, and 'Ellan', from the monk St Fillan, which was closely related to the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400.
